The GPU of the Xbox 360 is severely dated. It's comparable to a 7 series Nvidia card from 5 years ago. The big beef I have with the graphics in Reach is the lack of anti-aliasing. The edges are so jagged and rough its distracting. There's a lot going on on screen in Halo Reach so they can't polish too much without the frame rate dropping dramatically. Pretty much the only thing developers can do to make their games look the best they can is optimize the hell out of the code.
